Recurring expenses

Save a template for bills and fixed costs that repeat, such as rent or salaries. Templates are stored and can be edited, but automatic posting of expenses from them is not switched on yet.

Where to find it: Sidebar › Expenses › Recurring tab

Set up a recurring expense

  1. On the Recurring tab, select New recurring expense. A form opens.
  2. Fill in:
    • What is it — a name for the expense. Placeholder: Shop rent, staff salary…. Required.
    • Category — which type (Marketing & Advertising, Salaries & Wages, Rent & Utilities, Office Supplies, Software & Subscriptions, Travel & Entertainment, Shipping & Logistics, Transportation, Other). Required.
    • Paid to (optional) — vendor or person you pay.
    • Amount changes each time — a toggle switch. Turn it on if the amount varies each month (for example, an electricity bill). When it is on, you see the label Variable instead of an amount field. When it is off, enter a fixed Amount (in taka). The switch is off by default.
    • Repeats — how often: Every week, Every month, Every quarter, Every year. Default is Every month.
    • Status — Active (counted in the monthly total, and the one a future automatic posting would use) or Paused (on hold). Default is Active.
    • Starts — the first date this expense should be posted. Date picker; today is the default.
    • Ends (optional) — when to stop posting this expense. The placeholder says Never, which means it posts forever. Tap the field to set an end date, or leave it blank. You can change or clear this whenever you edit the template.
  3. Select Create template. A toast shows: Template Created — The new recurring expense has been added.

You can edit or delete a template at any time. Open the ⋯ menu on the row and select Edit or Delete. Deleting a template does not delete the expenses it has already posted.

What a template does today

A recurring expense template is a saved description of a cost that repeats. At the moment, Omnikyo stores the template and shows it on the Recurring tab, with a monthly total for Active templates, but nothing posts an expense from it automatically. The posting routine exists in the code, but no schedule or button runs it.

Until that is switched on, add each month's cost yourself as a One-time expense and use the template as a reminder of what repeats. Pausing or deleting a template does not change any expense you have already recorded.

When automatic posting is switched on, it is built to post one expense per active template per calendar month, dated the first of the month, with status Confirmed (or Draft with amount 0 for a Variable template). It reads the template's Starts, Ends and Status, but it does not use the Repeats setting, so a weekly, quarterly or yearly template would still post once a month.

Example

You save a template:

  • What is it: Shop rent
  • Amount: Tk 50,000
  • Repeats: Every month
  • Starts: 1 October 2026
  • Ends: (blank, never)
  • Status: Active

The template appears on the Recurring tab and counts in the monthly total there. To get the cost into your profit, record Tk 50,000 as a One-time expense each month.
