Tracking and conversions questions
Answers to common questions about setting up the Meta Pixel, server events, and tracking orders.
Do I need both the Meta Pixel and Server events (Conversions API)?
No, but you should have both if you can. The browser pixel alone is enough to fire events, but older iPhones and strict ad blockers can block it. Server events are more reliable and include customer data (email, phone, address), so Meta can match purchases more accurately to users. Turn on Server events if you can generate and paste the access token from Events Manager.
Browser pixel only (no Server events): Omnikyo sends page views, clicks, and purchases from the browser. iPhones on iOS 15+ may not track properly. Match quality depends only on browser-collected data.
Browser + Server events (recommended): All events are sent twice (once from the browser, once from the server). Meta automatically de-duplicates them by event id. You get better coverage, especially for iPhones, and customer data improves match quality.
Does Omnikyo work with Google Analytics?
No. Omnikyo sends data only to Meta (Facebook and Instagram). If you use Google Analytics, you need to set it up separately by adding Google's script to the store or your website. Omnikyo does not read from or write to Google Analytics; they are independent.
If you want to track sales in Google Analytics, you can paste Google's script tag into custom sections in the designer, or ask your developer to add it to your website's layout.
Does bKash send the Purchase event to Meta?
Yes. When a customer completes a bKash payment, Omnikyo sends the Purchase event to Meta with the order total, items, and customer name. However, the event does not include IP, browser user agent, or click cookies (fbp, fbc), so Meta cannot match it as strongly to a user as it can for COD orders. This can result in lower match quality or a longer reporting delay.
For COD orders, the Purchase event carries all available data, so match quality is better.
Which Meta events does Omnikyo send?
Omnikyo sends five events:
- PageView — every page the customer views (from browser and server).
- ViewContent — when they open a product page (browser and server).
- AddToCart — when they add an item to the cart (browser and server).
- InitiateCheckout — when they open the checkout with items (browser and server).
- Purchase — when they place an order (both browser and server; bKash has less customer data).
Not sent: AddPaymentInfo, Search, Lead, CompleteRegistration, or custom events.
For full details, see Meta events we send.
Can I see a log of events sent to Meta?
Not in Omnikyo. The only place to see what events arrive at Meta is Meta Events Manager → your pixel → Diagnostics or Test events (if you are using Test mode). Omnikyo keeps an internal log of events sent, but merchants cannot view it — only Meta's report shows what reached Meta.
If events are not appearing in Events Manager, check the pixel status in Omnikyo (should be Tracking on) and check for ad blockers or wrong pixel IDs. See Fix pixel and conversion tracking problems for troubleshooting.
How long does it take for my store to start tracking after I add a pixel ID?
Up to 15 minutes. When you save a pixel ID in Settings, the store's configuration is cached for 15 minutes. Events on pages loaded in the first 15 minutes after saving may not yet include the new pixel. After 15 minutes, the cache refreshes and all new events include the pixel.
To skip the wait, open your store designer and publish the store (click Publish) — this clears the cache instantly.
Can I test the pixel without placing a real order?
Yes. In Settings › Ads and tracking › Facebook and Instagram › Pixel tab, scroll down to Check it works:
- Click Start the pixel here (this loads Meta's script on the Settings page).
- Use the four buttons (Page view, Product view, Add to cart, Checkout started) to send test events.
- Wait a few seconds and check Events Manager → your pixel → Test events. They should appear.
Note: Do not click these buttons many times in a row; Meta may rate-limit them. Also, these test events are browser-only (not server events), and Purchase is never sent from here.
What if my customer is outside Bangladesh?
Omnikyo sends all orders, even from addresses outside Bangladesh. However, Meta's match quality may be lower if the customer's data (address, city) does not match Bangladesh's postal format. Attribution tracking works the same way (UTM parameters, click ids, referrer) regardless of location.
Why do orders sometimes not show a channel or campaign?
An order shows no channel when:
- The customer typed the URL or came from a private message (no referrer, no click id, no UTM tags).
- The store's tracking was off when the order was placed.
- Cookies are disabled on the customer's browser.
To ensure all orders carry campaign data:
- Add Meta dynamic parameters (
{{campaign.id}},{{ad.id}},{{creative.id}}) to your Meta ads. - Or use UTM parameters on manual links (e.g.,
?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=july-sale).
See Where your orders really come from for details on tagging links.
