Import Shopify products and sync stock

You can bring your products from Shopify into Omnikyo, optionally fixing SKU problems first, then sync stock between the two.

Import products from Shopify

  1. Open Settings and go to Sales channels › Shopify.
  2. Select Sync products from Shopify.
  3. If you want Omnikyo to fix broken or missing SKUs in Shopify first, turn on Fix Shopify SKUs first. Choose one of two modes:
    • Only missing and duplicate SKUs — Omnikyo fixes SKUs that are blank or appear more than once in Shopify. Leaves SKUs that are already fine.
    • Replace every Shopify SKU — Omnikyo writes a new SKU on every variant using Omnikyo's format. Use this if you have many SKU inconsistencies.
  4. Select Sync products (or Fix SKUs and sync if you enabled the repair step).

The import shows two steps. The first fixes SKUs in Shopify if you chose it. The second imports products and variants into Omnikyo. You see counts: how many products synced, how many were skipped, and how many existing products were linked by SKU match.

What the import brings from Shopify

The import copies these fields from each Shopify variant:

  • Product title and description
  • All variants, with their titles and options
  • Variant images
  • Prices and cost (unit cost)
  • Variant SKU for linking

If a product or variant already exists in Omnikyo by Shopify ID, it is updated with the new details. The import never creates duplicate products and never changes stock quantities. It only adds or updates product information.

When you import, Omnikyo tries to match each Shopify variant to an existing Omnikyo product:

  1. By Shopify ID — if the variant was imported before, it matches to the same Omnikyo product.
  2. By SKU — if a Shopify variant's SKU matches an Omnikyo product's SKU, they link together and the product inherits the Shopify ID.

If no match is found, a new product is created.

Good to know: SKU matching only works when the SKUs are identical. If you have products in Omnikyo without Shopify IDs, check the SKU before importing; you may want to use Fix Shopify SKUs first to give Shopify the same SKUs first.

Sync stock between Omnikyo and Shopify

  1. Open Settings › Sales channels › Shopify.
  2. Select Sync stock with Shopify.
  3. Choose a direction:
    • Publish Omnikyo to Shopify — Omnikyo's sellable stock (on hand minus reserved and damaged) updates Shopify's available quantity. This can also run automatically.
    • Import from Shopify, once — Shopify's available quantity at the chosen location updates Omnikyo's on-hand stock, one time only.
  4. Choose the Shopify location Omnikyo manages. Only locations with at least one product are shown.
  5. If you chose Publish, decide whether to Keep Shopify updated automatically. If yes, Omnikyo publishes every time a relevant stock changes.
  6. Select Publish stock or Import from Shopify.

The sync only includes products linked to a Shopify variant (have a Shopify ID). Unlinked products are reported as a gap in the result.

Keep Shopify stock updated automatically

You can let Omnikyo update Shopify whenever stock changes:

  1. Open Settings › Sales channels › Shopify.
  2. Select Sync stock with Shopify.
  3. Choose Publish Omnikyo to Shopify.
  4. Choose your Shopify location.
  5. Turn on Keep Shopify updated automatically.
  6. Select Publish stock.

Once enabled, Omnikyo publishes to Shopify when:

  • Stock quantity changes at a location that serves Shopify.
  • A location's Shopify flag is turned on or off (toggling whether it serves Shopify).
  • A location is activated or deactivated.

Omnikyo also re-publishes every night at 02:30 Bangladesh time, correcting any changes made directly in Shopify admin.

Automatic sync only publishes; Shopify never overwrites Omnikyo's stock. If you import from Shopify, you turn off automatic sync for that session, then can turn it back on.

Products aren't linked to Shopify

After syncing, the result may show products not linked. These are products in Omnikyo without a Shopify ID. They cannot sync stock:

  1. Open the product in Products.
  2. Edit it and copy the SKU.
  3. Go back and sync products again. If a Shopify variant has the same SKU, they link on import.

Alternatively, add the Shopify ID by hand (Omnikyo staff access only).

Questions people ask

What happens when I re-import from Shopify?

Re-importing updates existing products with their latest Shopify details (images, prices, cost, options) but never changes stock or creates duplicates. If a product in Shopify was deleted, Omnikyo keeps the product but leaves its Shopify link empty.

Does the import change my Omnikyo stock?

No. Importing products and variants never touches stock quantities. Stock syncing is separate and manual (or automatic if you enable it).

Can Shopify overwrite my Omnikyo stock?

No. Omnikyo is the source of truth. Publishing sends Omnikyo's stock to Shopify. Importing is one-time and manual; it never runs automatically.

Why does automatic sync keep Shopify updated?

Omnikyo is the single source of truth for stock. Automatic sync ensures Shopify always shows the correct available quantity, without you running it by hand.
