Troubleshooting

Shopify problems

Fix Shopify connection failures, import errors, and sync gaps.

Saved, but Shopify refused the connection

What you see: Shopify credentials are saved, but when you try to sync, you get an error like "Access denied" or "Required access scope missing."

Why it happens: Either the credentials are wrong, or the Shopify app lacks the permissions (scopes) Omnikyo needs. Stock sync needs read_locations, read_inventory and write_inventory. If you used an older Shopify app, it may not have all of these.

How to fix it:

  1. Open Shopify admin and go to Apps › App and sales channel settings › Omnikyo.
  2. Click Configuration.
  3. Check that these scopes are listed:
    • read_products
    • read_locations
    • read_inventory
    • write_inventory
  4. If scopes are missing, reinstall or update the app from the Shopify App Store, and agree to all requested permissions.
  5. Go back to Omnikyo Settings › Sales channels › Shopify and verify the connection.
  6. Try the sync again.

No Shopify locations were found

What you see: When you open Sync stock with Shopify, the Shopify location dropdown is empty and shows "No active Shopify locations were found."

Why it happens: You have no active locations in Shopify admin, or Omnikyo cannot read them. This blocks stock sync, because Omnikyo needs to know which Shopify location to manage.

How to fix it:

  1. Log in to Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Settings › Locations and check that at least one location exists and is active (has a checkmark).
  3. If you have no locations, add one.
  4. Return to Omnikyo and refresh the page.
  5. Try opening Sync stock with Shopify again.

If locations still do not appear, your Shopify app may lack the read_locations scope. See "Saved, but Shopify refused" above.

Products aren't linked to Shopify (gap shown after import)

What you see: After importing products, the toast message says "X products imported" but also "Y not linked to Shopify."

Why it happens: These are Omnikyo products without a Shopify ID. Usually because the product is new in Omnikyo or the SKUs do not match between Shopify and Omnikyo.

How to fix it:

  1. Open the product in Products.
  2. Note its SKU.
  3. Go back to Settings › Sales channels › Shopify and select Sync products from Shopify.
  4. Optional: turn on Fix Shopify SKUs first to make Shopify's SKUs match Omnikyo's format.
  5. Select Sync products. If Shopify variants now have matching SKUs, they link during import.
  6. After import, check the result again. If the count of "not linked" is lower, the link worked.

No longer in Shopify (gap shown after stock sync)

What you see: When syncing stock, the result shows "X no longer in Shopify."

Why it happens: A product is linked to a Shopify variant that has been deleted in Shopify.

How to fix it:

  1. If you deleted the product in Shopify by mistake, recreate it or restore it from trash in Shopify admin.
  2. Re-sync stock.

If you intentionally deleted the variant, you can link the Omnikyo product to a different Shopify variant (Omnikyo staff access only).

Not stocked at location (gap shown after stock import)

What you see: When importing stock from Shopify, the result shows "X not stocked at [location name]."

Why it happens: A Shopify variant has zero available stock at the location you chose, so there is nothing to import.

How to fix it:

  1. Check Shopify admin: go to Products, find the variant, and look at its available quantity at the chosen location.
  2. If it should have stock, add it in Shopify.
  3. Re-sync the import in Omnikyo.

Import needs exactly one Omnikyo location selling on Shopify

What you see: When you try to import stock from Shopify, you get an error: "Importing from Shopify needs exactly one Omnikyo location selling on Shopify."

Why it happens: You have turned on the Shopify flag for more than one location in Omnikyo (or none). Importing changes on-hand stock, and Omnikyo needs to know which single location to update.

How to fix it:

  1. Open Inventory › Locations.
  2. For each location, open it and check the Shopify checkbox.
  3. Make sure exactly one location has Shopify turned on.
  4. Save and return to stock sync.
  5. Try the import again.

Stock sync publishes keep failing

What you see: Automatic stock sync to Shopify stops working, and manual publishes fail with an error.

Why it happens: The Shopify API call has failed 5 times in a row for this product. Omnikyo stops retrying after that to avoid overloading Shopify.

How to fix it:

  1. Check the Shopify app's scopes again (see "Saved, but Shopify refused" above).
  2. If scopes are correct, wait a few minutes and try again. Shopify may be temporarily unavailable.
  3. If it continues, contact Omnikyo support.
