Before you start
Your store needs a storefront site to exist. If Themes shows "This business has no storefront yet", tap Create storefront to set one up first. You need the Manage storefront permission (or equivalent) to publish a theme or change one.
Only one theme can be live at a time. Publishing a new theme takes down the old one.
Add a theme
- Open Themes.
- Tap the Add theme ▾ dropdown.
- Choose Start from a theme pack.
- In the gallery, select Field (or another pack if you see others). Field is the default, ready for any kind of shop.
- Tap the button that says "Start with Field" (or the pack's name).
- A new draft theme appears in your list with a name like "Field" or "Field (2)" if you already have one. You can rename it now or later.
Your new theme is a draft. Shoppers do not see it yet.
Customise a theme
- In your Themes list, find the draft theme.
- Tap Customise. This opens the designer — the full-screen editor where you change colours, fonts, layout, add sections and pages, and build your store's design.
- Edit anything: change the header logo, colours, footer text, product pages, home page, or add new content pages. Save your work with Save in the top bar. You can work on a draft as long as you like — nothing is live until you publish.
- When you are happy with the design, tap Publish in the top bar. A confirmation appears: "Publish {theme name}?" — tap Publish to confirm.
Success toast: "Published" — "{theme name} is live as version {number}."
What happens when you publish
- Your draft becomes a published theme that shoppers see immediately.
- If another theme was live, it becomes a draft so you can edit it and publish again later.
- Every published theme saves a version history, so you can restore an older version if needed.
- Your live theme stays live until you publish a different one.
Good to know: If your store is Hidden (visibility off in Store settings), shoppers cannot see your store even if you publish a theme. Turn visibility on in Store settings to open for shopping.
Drafts, versions and version history
Every theme keeps a version history of everything you publish. When you publish, a new version is saved.
- Current — your draft. Edit this to make the next version.
- Published — the version shoppers see right now.
- Save point — an older version you saved for safekeeping. You can restore it at any time.
To open version history, find the theme and tap the menu (⋯) → Version history.
Save a version
Before trying a big change, save your current draft:
- Open Version history for the theme.
- In the Name this save point field at the top, type a name (e.g. "Before colours" or "Summer redesign").
- Tap Save version… A notice appears: "Saved as version {number}."
Later, if things go wrong, you restore this version and your draft is back to this point.
Restore a version
To bring back an older design:
- Open Version history for the theme.
- Find the version you want (tap the row to expand details).
- Tap Restore and confirm.
- The version is copied into your draft, replacing what is there now. Your live storefront does not change until you publish.
Your old version stays in history so you can restore it again if you change your mind.
Rename a version
To give a save point a better name:
- Open Version history.
- Find the version, tap its row, and tap the pencil icon or Rename.
- Type a new name and tap Save.
Careful: Publishing a new theme does not affect old themes' versions. If you have two themes and restore a version in one, the other stays untouched.
Duplicate a theme
To try a big redesign without risking your live theme:
- Tap the Add theme ▾ dropdown.
- Tap Duplicate live theme (only available if something is live).
- A new theme appears named "{theme name} copy" as a draft. Edit it, test it, and publish whenever you are ready.
Or: find a draft theme in your list, tap the menu (⋯), and tap Duplicate. You get a copy of that version to keep editing.
Rename a theme
To change a theme's name (in your list only; shoppers never see the name):
- Find the theme in your list.
- Tap the menu (⋯) → Rename.
- Type the new name and tap Save.
The name is only for you — shoppers see your store's design, not the theme's label.
Delete a theme
To remove a theme and its whole history:
- Find the theme.
- Tap the menu (⋯) → Delete.
- Confirm: Delete theme.
Deleted themes cannot be recovered. Your live storefront does not change — you can only delete draft themes anyway; the live one is locked while published.
Duplicating your live theme
If your live theme is great and you want a small variant of it:
- Tap Add theme ▾.
- Tap Duplicate live theme.
- A new draft appears as "{theme name} copy".
- Customise it.
- Publish it when ready.
The original stays in your list as a draft you can restore or republish.
The previous builder (v2)
If your store was made with the earlier builder before the designer existed, you see a Legacy theme card in the live spot with a badge "Live · previous builder". You can keep using it.
To switch to the designer (v3):
- Add a new theme and start from the Field pack.
- Customise it in the designer.
- Publish it.
The legacy theme moves to a draft and can be published again later if you change your mind. You can switch between them any number of times.
To go back to the legacy theme:
- Find Legacy theme in your list (it shows a "Previous builder" badge when not live).
- Tap the menu (⋯) → Make live (the label varies).
Your current v3 theme becomes a draft.
Careful: Never try to edit with both builders at once. If you are using the designer (v3), do not open the legacy builder. Pick one and stick with it for each version.
Theme packs
Every theme starts from a pack — a complete design system with colours, fonts, layout and starting pages.
- Field is the default. It is clean, white, ready for any kind of store (clothing, electronics, beauty, food, whatever). You always see it in the Add theme gallery.
- Older packs (Bazaar, Bloom, Atelier, Mono, Luxe, Plush, Gallery) still work and can be published. Stores already using them can keep editing and publishing them. New stores see only Field.
What a pack contains:
- A starting home page, product pages, collection pages and checkout.
- Colour schemes you can pick from.
- Font choices (headings and body text in English and Bangla).
- A set of sections (hero, product lists, FAQ, testimonials, etc.) you can add to pages.
You cannot change which pack a theme uses. If you want a completely different design system, start a new theme from a different pack.
Problems and fixes
Publish button is disabled
Before you can publish, your theme must compile cleanly. If the Publish button is greyed out, the designer is showing errors. Open the designer and look for a red error list in the Inspect panel — fix those and try again.
Old theme disappears after publish
It does not disappear. It becomes a draft. Find it in your draft themes list below the live card. You can edit it, restore an older version, or publish it again.
Cannot see Themes page
Your store may not have a storefront set up. Go to Store settings and make sure a site exists. Or you may not have permission — ask your manager for the Manage storefront permission.
Questions people ask
Can I have more than one live theme?
No. Only one theme is live at a time. The others are drafts. Publishing a new one makes the old one a draft.
How many themes can I have?
As many as you want. Keep drafts, versions, older experiments — they do not affect your live store.
What is the difference between "Current", "Published" and "Save point"?
Current is your draft — what you are editing right now. Published is what shoppers see. Save point is an older version you saved for safekeeping. You can restore any save point to become your new draft and work from there.
Does rolling back affect my live store immediately?
No. Restoring a version changes your draft only. Your live storefront stays the same until you publish. This lets you restore, make more edits, and publish when you are sure.
Why is "Duplicate live theme" disabled?
You can only duplicate when something is live. If no theme is published yet, the button is disabled.
