Complementary products (gated)

When the feature is on, you can pick up to 50 products to appear beside this one when customers browse your store.

Where to find it: Sidebar › Products › open a product in the editor › the Complementary products card (towards the bottom) Who can do it: Anyone with products.view and products.edit permissions. Status: This feature is gated — it must be turned on for your workspace to appear.

Before you start

The complementary products feature must be enabled for your workspace. If you do not see the Complementary products card in the product editor, the feature is off. Contact support if you think it should be on.

Only products that are not archived can be chosen. The feature prevents you from picking the product itself.

Add a complementary product

1. Open the Products list.
2. Click on a product to open the editor.
3. Scroll to the Complementary products card near the bottom of the form.
4. In the search box, type the name of a product you want to pair with this one.
5. The search matches product names. Wait for results to appear below the box.
6. Click a product in the results list to add it.
7. The product appears above the search box with a small ✕ icon on the right.
8. Repeat to add more products, up to 50.
9. Click Save at the top of the form.

Remove a complementary product

Click the ✕ icon next to any product name in the list. The product is removed immediately from your picks — the list is local until you save the form.

Where these products appear

The picked products appear on your storefront when a customer views this product, if your store has the recommendation feature turned on. The position they appear in depends on your store's template and settings.

Good to know: Changing the picks does not affect past orders or historical data. The storefront checks the picks each time a customer visits.
