Product, collection and search pages

Shoppers browse products through a shop page, collections, and search. On each product, they pick options, see stock, and add to cart or buy now.

The product page

When a shopper opens a product, they see the product name, price, images, description, and the variant picker (if there are options like size or colour).

Variant picker: If your product has options (Size, Colour, Material, etc.), shoppers must choose one for every option before they can add to cart. Unavailable combinations can be hidden, struck through, or dimmed — you control this in the Theme settings. If a shopper tries to add without choosing all options, they see "Choose every option before adding this to the cart."

Stock readout: Shows whether the product is in stock. If stock is low (below the threshold you set), it says "Only 5 available" or the exact count. When sold out, the readout says "Sold out" and the Add to cart and Buy it now buttons disappear.

Quantity control: Shoppers enter how many they want — you set a per-order cap on the product (the maximum is the stock level if you do not set a cap, or your custom limit if lower). The quantity defaults to 1 and can be a stepper (+ and −) or a dropdown list.

Add to cart and Buy it now buttons: Add to cart opens the cart drawer; Buy it now adds the item and jumps straight to checkout. When the product is sold out, both buttons are replaced with "Sold out".

Stock source: The page reads the selected variant's stock, or the whole product's stock if no variant is chosen.

Reviews, recommendations and pickup: Below the product details, shoppers may see customer reviews (when you have published them), recommended products (a feature you enable separately), and store pickup locations (if you offer pickup from certain locations).

Shop and collection pages

The Shop page lists all your products. Collection pages list products you have grouped into collections. Both pages show:

Listings: Products appear as cards with an image, title, and price (struck price optional). A shopper can add to cart directly from a card or click to open the product page. "Sold out" products appear dimmed or marked with a tag.

Filters: Shoppers can narrow the list by Availability ("In stock only" — removes sold-out products), Category (if you have tagged products with categories), Tag (if you have tagged products with tags), and Price (a slider to pick min and max price).

Filters are combined with AND logic across groups and OR within a group (e.g. "all products tagged Red OR Blue AND in the category Shirts").

Sort options: Shoppers can reorder the list — the Sort dropdown shows:

  • Relevance (search results only; best match first)
  • Best selling (estimated; based on variant count, not real sales)
  • Newest (most recently added)
  • Price: low to high
  • Price: high to low

The default sort is set in the template.

Pagination: Pages show a fixed number of products (you set this in the template). Shoppers navigate with page numbers, a Load more button, or infinite scroll — the style is set in the template.

Search page: Shoppers type in the search header and land on a search results page. The same filters and sorts apply. If a search returns no matches, you can set a fallback message or show your bestsellers instead.

Predictive search dropdown: When shoppers start typing in the search header (if this is turned on), a dropdown shows matching products, collections, pages and articles as they type — live suggestions. If typing stops, pressing Enter lands on the full search results page.

Filter URL structure

Shoppers build filter URLs like shop?category=Shirts&tag=Blue,Green&min-price=500. You cannot change the URL param names, but they work across all listing pages. Filters are not indexed by Google (to prevent filter-spam crawling) — search engines see the unfiltered shop page only.

What you control in the theme

In Theme settings, you can:

  • Set the results per page (how many products each page shows).
  • Control the variant picker style (buttons, swatches, dropdown).
  • Show or hide filters and sort.
  • Set the "Best selling" sort as default.
  • Show or hide product count ("34 results").
  • Show or hide prices, images, categories on the cards.
  • Set the image ratio (square, portrait, landscape).
  • Turn on stock bar (a thin bar showing stock as a percent).
  • Turn on Buy it now button (some themes have only Add to cart).
  • Turn on product recommendations.
  • Choose which collection shows on the search fallback (empty-state products).

What shoppers cannot do

  • Shoppers cannot see products you have archived or hidden.
  • They cannot see unpublished or draft collections.
  • They cannot create wishlists or save products for later.
  • There are no customer reviews with photos (review text only).
