How your storefront works

Your storefront is the website shoppers see. It has three addresses — a free subdomain, a custom domain you own, and a fallback link. Publishing makes it live, and the store version controls what features shoppers see.

What shoppers see

Your storefront is the public website customers browse, add items to a cart, and order from. You design its layout, colours, pages and product listing in the Store area. The storefront has no customer accounts — shoppers enter their phone number and name on every order, and a confirmation link proves they placed it.

The three ways to reach your store

Shoppers can reach your storefront from three addresses. All three show the same store; you choose which one you advertise.

Your Omnikyo subdomain (always free): <slug>.omnikyo.com. Your slug is the name you chose when you set up the store. It must be 3–63 characters, using letters, numbers and hyphens only (no leading or trailing hyphen). You cannot reserve certain names: app, api, checkout, payment, bkash, shop, store, orders, support, blog and about 110 others are blocked. If you rename your store, the old slug is released and someone else can claim it later.

Your own domain (optional, costs extra): Point your domain's DNS to Omnikyo and we will serve your store there. Both the apex (mybrand.com) and www.mybrand.com work. While your domain is pending, shoppers see "Opening soon"; once it is active, it becomes the official address and shoppers land there automatically (the subdomain still works as a backup).

The fallback /store/ link: If someone reaches Omnikyo from the app host (unlikely), the store redirects them to your canonical address with a 308 code so their browser remembers the redirect. This link is never advertised.

Store versions and what shoppers see

Your store renders as v2 (the current standard) or v3 (new engine with more control) when you publish a theme. Most live stores today are v2. The version you publish determines which Horizon blocks and settings are available, and which features shoppers see — for example, v3 checkout has an explicit Inside Dhaka / Outside Dhaka picker, while v2 guesses the zone from the city you type.

Publish your store and go live

Publishing your store means you are ready for shoppers to order. Before you publish, the storefront shows "Opening soon" and APIs refuse orders. After you publish:

  • The store becomes searchable on Google (if you allow it in Store settings).
  • Shoppers can reach all addresses (subdomain, custom domain, /store/ link) and place orders.
  • Changes you make to products, prices, pages and the design go live in stages. The home page takes up to a day; product pages, listings and checkout are usually live in minutes. Custom domains update within 5 minutes.

When you unpublish, the store immediately shows "Opening soon" again — no new orders can be placed and the site is hidden from Google.

Good to know: Unpublishing does not delete past orders or erase your store design. You can publish again anytime.

Preview your store before publishing

Open Preview from the store menu to see what shoppers will see. The preview is not live — shoppers cannot reach it, orders do not go through, and it is hidden from search engines. You can share a preview link with teammates, and they will not see any live orders or products.

Pages, policies and blog

Beyond the home page and product listings, your storefront has:

  • Pages: Custom content pages you write (e.g. About, FAQ, Shipping info). Link them in the Navigation menu.
  • Policies: Terms, privacy and returns — linked automatically in the footer.
  • Blog: Articles you publish appear at /blog (v3 stores only; v2 stores do not have a blog).
  • Landing pages: Special order pages you create for campaigns, with a fixed offer and checkout on the same page (e.g. /lp/flash-sale). Shoppers who land there do not see the full shop.

All of these live or hide with the store — unpublish the store and they all show "Opening soon".

Store hidden but still live

You can hide your store from Google without unpublishing it. Open Store settings and untick the indexing option, and the storefront becomes a dead link in search results — but the site still works for shoppers who have the link. This is useful for testing or soft launches.
