Collections
Collections let you group products for sales, gift guides, seasonal offers, or any theme. Create a collection, pick products, and publish it.
Where to find it: Sidebar › Products › Catalog › Collections tab Who can do it: Create and edit collections need Create and edit products permission; delete needs Delete products permission.
Create a collection
- Open Catalog and select the Collections tab.
- Select New collection.
- On the Details tab:
- Enter a Title (required). For example, "Eid Sale", "Gift Ideas", "Bestsellers".
- Below the title you see Handle: (the slug). This is calculated from the title and appears in the collection page URL. For example, a collection titled "Eid Sale" gets the handle
eid-saleand the URL/collections/eid-sale. - Write a Description. This appears on the collection card in your store and as the page description for search engines.
- (Optional) Select Select image to pick a photo from your media library. The image shows on collection cards and pages. Click Change image to swap it; click the × to remove it.
- Fill in SEO metadata: SEO title, SEO description, Meta Catalog Set ID (optional). These are stored for your reference.
- On the Products tab:
- Search or scroll to find products.
- Tick the checkbox next to each product you want to include.
- The badge shows "n selected" at the top.
- Use the sort dropdown to Selected first (your picks at the top), Name A-Z, or Newest.
- Select Create collection.
The collection is created and appears in the list. Note: New collections are created unpublished and do not appear in your store yet. Publishing is not yet available in the dashboard. You will need to contact support or use another tool to publish the collection so customers can see it.
Add or remove products in a collection
Edit a collection to change which products are in it.
- Open the Collections tab.
- Find the collection and select Edit.
- On the Products tab, tick or untick products to add or remove them.
- Select Save changes.
Products are saved in the order you ticked them. However, the storefront's default sort is alphabetical (shoppers can choose other sorts like "Best selling", "Newest", or "Price").
Edit a collection
Change the name, description, image, or metadata of a collection.
- Open the Collections tab.
- Find the collection and select Edit.
- On the Details tab, change:
- Title (the name)
- Description (shown on the storefront)
- Collection image (select, change, or remove)
- SEO metadata (SEO title, SEO description, Meta Catalog Set ID)
- Select Save changes.
The Handle (slug) is fixed at creation and does not change when you rename the collection. If you rename "Summer Sale" to "Monsoon Sale", the URL stays /collections/summer-sale. This means links and bookmarks continue to work.
Delete a collection
You can delete a collection at any time. The products stay in your store.
- Open the Collections tab.
- Find the collection and select the trash icon (or Delete on a phone).
- Read the confirmation: "Products in it are kept."
- Select Delete.
The collection is removed from your storefront and the list. Products that were in it are untouched and stay in your inventory and other collections.
Set a collection image and page description
The collection image appears on collection cards in your store and on the collection page. The description appears below the title.
- Open a collection and select Edit.
- On the Details tab, select Select image to choose from your media library.
- In the description field, write text that shoppers will read on the collection page and in search results.
- Select Save changes.
The image and description update immediately on your storefront.
Good to know: The SEO title and SEO description fields are stored but not yet used by the storefront. Use the regular Title and Description fields for content that shoppers see.
Collection order and sort options on the storefront
Collections appear in the order you pick products when creating or editing them. However, shoppers can change the sort on your storefront.
What you control in the dashboard:
- The order you pick products in (Selected first sort on the edit form).
- The collection description and image.
What shoppers control on the storefront:
- The sort of products: Featured (alphabetical), Best selling, Newest, Price: low to high, Price: high to low, Alphabetical.
- Filters and facets (by category, tags, price, etc., if enabled).
The storefront's default sort is Featured (alphabetical by product name). The dashboard does not offer drag-to-reorder products within a collection.
Section sorts: If a section on your website is set to show this collection, the section can have its own sort setting (newest, price, best-selling, featured) that overrides the collection order and shopper choices for that section only.
Smart collections and their rules
Smart collections are groups of products that match rules you set (for example, "all products in the Oils category", "all products with the bestseller tag"). Smart collections are fully supported on the storefront and update automatically as products change.
Current limitation: Smart collections can be listed in the Type filter as Smart, but you cannot create or edit them in the dashboard. Smart collections that were created by converters (when your storefront design was set up) appear in the list, but editing a smart collection wipes its rules.
If you need to create or modify a smart collection, contact support. The storefront supports these rule fields:
- Tag — products with a specific tag
- Category — products in a category
- Price — products within a price range
- Stock — products with available stock above a level
All rules are ANDed together (a product must match every rule), except shoppers can pick multiple tags (match any tag in that group).
Questions people ask
My collection doesn't show in my store. Why?
Collections must be published to appear. New collections are created unpublished. Publishing is not yet available in the dashboard. Contact support to publish your collection so customers see it in your store.
Can a product be in multiple collections?
Yes. A product can be in one category but in many collections.
What is the difference between a collection and a category?
A category is a classification each product belongs to (one per product, like a main section). A collection is a curated group you create (like a sale, a gift guide, or a bundle). You decide which products go in a collection; categories are more structural.
Can I reorder products in a collection?
In the edit form, products are saved in the order you tick them. But the storefront shows products alphabetically by default (the Featured sort). Shoppers can choose other sorts. You can edit the collection and re-pick the products in a different order to influence the Featured sort, but the dashboard does not offer drag-to-reorder.
Can I copy a collection?
There is no copy or duplicate feature. Create a new collection and pick the same products.
What do the SEO fields do?
The SEO title, SEO description, and Meta Catalog Set ID are stored but not currently used by the storefront. Use the regular Title and Description fields for content that shows on your store. These fields are saved for future use or integration with other systems.
Can I edit a smart collection?
Smart collections created by converters appear in the list with a Smart badge. If you select Edit on a smart collection, the edit form will save but wipe the rules. Contact support if you need to change a smart collection's rules.
