Test bKash and switch it on
Test your bKash credentials to make sure they work, then turn on the "Show bKash at checkout" switch so customers can pay with bKash.
Where to find it: Sidebar › Settings › Selling › Payments › bKash › Test connection button Who can do it: Anyone with Integrations access (owners always pass).
Before you start
You have already entered your bKash credentials and clicked Save. Your bKash status should show either "Not tested yet" (you have entered credentials but not tested) or "Switched off" (you have tested but turned it off).
Test your connection
- On the bKash page, click the Test connection button (next to the integration status).
- Omnikyo connects to bKash and asks for an access token using your credentials. This usually takes a few seconds.
- If the test succeeds, you see a toast message "bKash works. Customers can pay with bKash when it's switched on."
- The status should now say "On at checkout" if the switch was already on, or it will stay "Not tested yet" if the switch is off.
If the test fails, you see an error message describing what went wrong. Common reasons are:
- Incorrect credentials — Check your app key, secret, username and password against the bKash developer portal.
- Credentials are inactive — Contact your bKash account manager to make sure they are active.
- Environment mismatch — If you chose Sandbox (test payments) but entered Live credentials (or vice versa), the test will fail. Use the matching set.
- Network error — If bKash cannot be reached, try again in a moment.
Turn on bKash at checkout
Once the test succeeds, turn on the "Show bKash at checkout" switch.
- On the bKash page, check the "Show bKash at checkout" switch.
- Click Save.
- bKash now appears as a payment option when customers visit your checkout page.
When the switch is on and the connection is verified, the status shows "On at checkout".
What happens at checkout when bKash is on
When a customer reaches the payment step on your storefront, they see two options:
- Cash on delivery
- bKash (with the note "Secure hosted payment by bKash.")
The customer chooses bKash, and bKash redirects them to the hosted payment page where they enter their bKash details and confirm the payment.
Switch between Sandbox and Live
You can change between Sandbox and Live at any time, but only with the matching credentials.
- Change the Mode dropdown to the environment you want (Sandbox or Live).
- Update the credentials if needed (paste the new app key, secret, username and password).
- Click Save.
- Run Test connection again.
- Once the new environment is verified, bKash will use those credentials at checkout.
For example:
- Sandbox mode: You tested and verified Sandbox credentials. Customers who pay with bKash use the Sandbox environment (test payments, no real money).
- Live mode: You switch to Live credentials, test them, and save. Now customers use Live payments (real money).
Good to know: You should always test after changing the environment or updating credentials. This takes only a few seconds and ensures everything is working.
What the verification status means
The bKash status on the payment page shows what you have done so far:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Set up" | No credentials are saved yet. Go to the bKash page and enter your credentials. |
| "Not tested yet" | Credentials are saved, but you have not run a test (or the last test was incomplete). Click Test connection. |
| "Connection failed" | The last test failed. Check your credentials and the bKash developer portal for errors. |
| "Switched off" | The connection is verified and working, but the "Show bKash at checkout" switch is off. Turn the switch on to show bKash. |
| "On at checkout" | The connection is verified and the switch is on. Customers see bKash at checkout. |
Why bKash doesn't appear at checkout even though I switched it on
bKash requires two things to appear at checkout:
- The switch is on — You have turned on "Show bKash at checkout".
- The connection is verified — You have run the test and it passed.
If the switch is on but the test has not passed, bKash will not appear. The page shows a warning: "Switched on, but it only appears at checkout after a successful test."
Run the test, and bKash will appear straight away.
Test payments in Sandbox
While in Sandbox mode, you can place test orders and test the full checkout flow with fake bKash payments. bKash provides test card numbers for Sandbox.
- Make sure the Mode is set to "Sandbox (test payments)" and the test passed.
- Place a test order on your storefront and choose bKash at checkout.
- On the bKash payment page, use one of bKash's test numbers to complete the test payment.
- The order should be created and marked as paid in Omnikyo.
This helps you check that everything works before going Live.
Questions people ask
Can I switch back to Sandbox after going Live?
Yes. Change the Mode dropdown back to "Sandbox (test payments)", paste your Sandbox credentials, save, and test again. Once verified, checkout will use Sandbox.
Does testing create a real charge?
No. Testing does not process real payments, whether you are in Sandbox or Live mode. The test just verifies that Omnikyo can connect to bKash using your credentials. Real payments only happen when a customer chooses bKash at checkout and completes the purchase.
What if the test passes but customers don't see bKash at checkout?
Check that the "Show bKash at checkout" switch is on. If it is on, wait a moment and reload your storefront page — sometimes a page cache might be stale. If bKash still does not appear, check that you are viewing the correct storefront (you may have multiple stores if you are part of a team).
How often should I test?
You do not need to test often. Test once after you first set up bKash, and again after you switch to Live. If you change credentials or the environment, test once more to be sure. In normal operation, Omnikyo checks the connection automatically.
Can I test while customers are ordering?
Yes. The test does not interrupt orders or affect payments in progress. However, to avoid confusing messages, run the test during a quiet time if you can.
