When you can refund

You can refund a bKash payment only after the customer has completed it. The payment status must show Paid, Pending (waiting on bKash to confirm), or any other state where a transaction ID exists. You cannot refund a payment that failed or was cancelled.

If a payment shows Pending for a long time, refresh it first to check if it truly completed (see Reading payment status on an order).

Start a refund

  1. Open the Orders page and click the order number.
  2. Scroll to the Payments card and click History (or click the row showing the total paid).
  3. A payment history modal opens listing all attempts and links.
  4. Find the payment you want to refund. If it has a Refund button (blue, bottom right of the row), click it.
  5. A Refund bKash payment dialog opens.

The dialog shows:

  • Refundable amount: the maximum you can refund (the original payment amount minus any amount already refunded).
  • Refund amount field (pre-filled with the full refundable amount).
  • Reason field (required; 3–255 characters). Example reasons: "Customer requested", "Duplicate order", "Wrong amount".
  • Use fresh bKash grant token checkbox (leave unchecked normally).

Process the refund

  1. The Refund amount is pre-filled with the full refundable amount. Change it if you want to refund only part of the payment.
  2. Enter a Reason (required; e.g. "Customer requested refund").
  3. Leave Use fresh bKash grant token unchecked unless you are instructed otherwise by support.
  4. Click Refund payment (red button).

The refund is sent to bKash, and a toast shows "Refund completed" (or "Refund failed"). The transaction ID appears if available.

What happens after refund

  • The money returns to the customer's bKash account within 3–5 working days (bKash's standard timeline).
  • The order's payment status updates to bKash Refunded (if fully refunded) or bKash Partially Refunded (if partial).
  • The History modal shows a Refunded badge with the refund amount and transaction ID.
  • The customer's due_amount on the order does not change (refunds are separate from payment recording).

If you refund part of a payment, you can refund the remainder later by clicking Refund again on the same payment attempt.

What the "Use fresh bKash grant token" option does

bKash limits refund requests to a certain rate. If a refund fails because bKash thinks you are over the limit, support may ask you to enable Use fresh bKash grant token. This uses a new authentication token instead of a cached one, which may allow the refund to go through.

Leave it off unless you see a refund failure tied to token/rate limits. Turning it on makes the refund slower.

Partial refunds

You can refund any amount up to the refundable total (original payment minus previous refunds). For example:

  • Original payment: Tk 5,000
  • First refund: Tk 2,000
  • Refundable amount now: Tk 3,000 (you can refund up to Tk 3,000 more)

Each refund must be at least Tk 1. You cannot refund more than what was originally paid.

Questions people ask

Why is there no Refund button on a payment?

The payment is not refundable if it:

  • Has not been completed yet (Pending or Failed status).
  • Was already fully refunded.
  • Has no transaction ID (the payment never reached bKash).

Refresh the payment status first to confirm it truly completed. If it stays Pending, it cannot be refunded yet.

Can I refund a COD payment?

No. Cash on Delivery refunds are not processed through Omnikyo. If the courier has already collected cash, refund the customer directly (cash, transfer, etc.) and keep a note on the order.

Can I undo a refund?

No. Once a refund is sent to bKash, it cannot be cancelled. The customer will receive the money in their account within 3–5 working days. If a refund was sent by mistake, you would need to ask the customer to repay or contact support.

How long does a refund take?

The refund is sent to bKash immediately (within seconds). The money reaches the customer's account in 3–5 working days (bKash's processing time). There is no guarantee of faster processing.

What if the refund fails?

If a refund fails, the toast shows "Refund failed" and an error message. Possible reasons:

  • Network timeout.
  • bKash server error (try again in a few minutes).
  • Rate limit (enable Use fresh bKash grant token and retry).
  • Invalid transaction ID (contact support).

Try the refund again. If it fails repeatedly, contact support.
