How customers pay at checkout
At the Payment step on checkout, your customer chooses Cash on delivery or bKash (if you have set it up). The flow is different for each method.

The payment choice
When your customer reaches the Payment step on your checkout, they see:
- Cash on delivery — Always visible.
- bKash — Visible only if you have connected bKash and the test passed.
Each option is shown as a clickable button or radio button (depending on your theme). Cash on delivery is usually the default choice.
The COD experience
When the customer chooses "Cash on delivery" and continues:
- They confirm the order.
- The order is created immediately with the full amount marked as due.
- They see an order confirmation page with:
- The order number
- Items ordered
- Total amount due
- Delivery address
- A message saying the courier will collect payment on delivery.
The customer is done. The courier will collect the cash when delivering the parcel.
The bKash experience
When the customer chooses "bKash" and continues:
- The checkout page redirects to bKash's payment page.
- The customer enters their bKash PIN and confirms the payment on bKash's page.
- When complete, bKash redirects back to your store's order confirmation page.
- The customer sees the same confirmation details as above, with a message that the payment is confirmed (or pending, if bKash is still processing).
The customer never leaves bKash's secure page while paying. Omnikyo does not see or store their bKash credentials.
Customizing the payment labels
You can change the label and description for cash on delivery in the theme designer:
- Cash-on-delivery label — The text your customer sees instead of "Cash on delivery". Default: "Cash on delivery".
- Cash-on-delivery note — The short note under the label. Default: "Pay the courier when your order arrives."
The bKash label and note cannot be changed — they are fixed as "bKash" and "Secure hosted payment by bKash."
To change these, go to the Designer, open the Checkout section, and look for the Payment fieldset settings.
Form validation
Before the customer can place an order, they must fill in:
- Name — At least 2 characters.
- Phone — A valid Bangladesh mobile number (starts with 01, followed by 8 digits; e.g., 01712345678).
- Email — (Required if you turned on the email field in the designer.)
- Delivery address — At least 10 characters.
- City or district — At least 2 characters (e.g., "Dhaka", "Chattogram").
If any field is missing or invalid, the checkout shows an error message under the field. The customer must fix it before continuing.
You can customize which fields are required in the designer's Checkout section settings.
What happens after payment
Cash on delivery
The order is confirmed, and a confirmation page appears. The customer is done.
bKash
Omnikyo monitors the bKash payment status. If the payment succeeds, the order is marked as paid and confirmed. If the payment fails or times out, the customer sees a message and can try again or choose cash on delivery instead.
Order status after checkout
After a customer completes checkout:
- Cash on delivery order — Created with the full amount due. Status is Confirmed (or Pending if you have set up a manual approval flow).
- bKash order — Created when the payment succeeds. Status is Confirmed and marked as bKash Paid.
You see the order immediately in your Orders list.
When a customer returns to checkout
If a customer abandons checkout and returns:
- Cash on delivery — A previous COD attempt and a new attempt are treated as separate orders (each gets its own order number).
- bKash — Each payment attempt is unique. If the customer starts a bKash payment, abandons it, and tries again, the system prevents duplicate charges by checking an
idempotency key. If the checkout session is new, it is a new order.
Technical notes for advanced merchants
- The payment method is recorded in the order's
payment_methodfield as "COD" or "Bkash". - For bKash, an
advance_paymentis recorded and the order is marked paid. - For COD, the order starts with
due_amount = totalandadvance_payment = 0. - The confirmation URL is unique per order and cannot be guessed.
Questions people ask
Can a customer choose a payment method after entering their details?
Yes. The payment choice is the final step, so customers can change their mind up to that point and restart from an earlier step.
What if a customer leaves the bKash payment page without paying?
If the customer closes the bKash page or navigates away without confirming, no payment is charged. They can return to your store and place a new order (or retry the same order if your store's flow allows it). There is no charge for an abandoned bKash attempt.
Does the confirmation page look different for each payment method?
No. The confirmation page is the same. The only difference is what it says about payment status — "paid" for bKash (if the payment went through) or "due at delivery" for cash on delivery.
Can customers pay with other methods?
Not at checkout. Only cash on delivery and bKash work at checkout. If you want to accept Nagad, Card, or Bank transfer, you must record the payment manually in Omnikyo after the customer pays you offline. You can also send a payment link asking the customer to pay by bKash at any time.
What if a customer's payment is stuck as "pending"?
If the bKash payment shows as "bKash Pending" on the order, it usually means the payment is processing. You can click the "Recheck bKash payment" button on the order to update the status. If it stays pending for a long time, contact the customer and ask them to check their bKash app to confirm whether the payment went through.
