Cash on delivery, from parcel to your pocket

The courier collects money on delivery, takes a fee, and eventually pays you. Here is what the amounts mean and how Omnikyo tracks the money.

What it is

Cash on delivery (COD) means the customer pays when the parcel arrives, not at checkout. When you send an order to the courier, Omnikyo tells the courier how much to collect. The courier delivers the parcel, collects the money from the customer, takes its fee, and eventually pays you the rest.

Advance payment is money the customer already paid (e.g., by bKash) before the order was dispatched. If they paid Tk 1,500 for an order costing Tk 3,000, the Due amount is Tk 1,500 (what the courier should collect).

How the COD amount is calculated

When you send an order to the courier, the COD amount sent is:

Total order price
− Advance payment (already paid by customer)
− Cash collected so far (if any)
= Amount for courier to collect (minimum 0)

Example: An order costs Tk 5,000. The customer paid Tk 2,000 in advance. The Due amount is Tk 3,000. The courier collects Tk 3,000 from the customer on delivery.

If the customer has already paid the full amount (Advanced = Tk 5,000 and Total = Tk 5,000), the Due amount is Tk 0, and the courier is told to collect nothing (though still needs to deliver the parcel).

The three money rows on an order

Open an order and look at the Money section in the order window.

RowMeaningExample
SubtotalProduct prices (before any discounts or fees).Tk 4,000
DiscountAny discount applied to the order.−Tk 500
ShippingWhat the customer pays for delivery (set in Settings › Shipping and delivery › Delivery fees or by hand on orders you create).Tk 130
TotalSubtotal minus discount plus shipping — what the customer owes.Tk 3,630
Advance PaymentMoney the customer has already paid (e.g., by bKash).Tk 1,500
Due (COD Collect)What the courier should collect on delivery: Total minus Advance and any cash already collected.Tk 2,130
Cash CollectedMoney the courier has collected and told you about (set by the courier update when the parcel is delivered, or filled in when you mark the order Delivered).Tk 2,130 (or empty until delivered)

Good to know: The order's Money section always shows these lines. When the courier collects the cash, it tells Omnikyo, and Cash Collected is filled in automatically (or you can sync the parcel manually if the update is late).

The courier fee

When the courier delivers a parcel, it charges you a courier fee (also called the delivery cost or charge). This fee is deducted from the cash collected or comes from the cash on delivery, and you do not receive it.

Example (Pathao):

  • Courier collects: Tk 3,000 from the customer
  • Courier fee (delivery cost): Tk 120
  • You receive: Tk 2,880 (3,000 − 120)

The fee shows on the order's Courier tab as Fee. Depending on the courier:

  • Pathao: the fee arrives with the delivery status webhook and is recorded automatically.
  • Steadfast: the fee also arrives by webhook (as the delivery charge) and is recorded.

The courier fee is counted as a cost in reports, and on Returned or Return Pending orders it is reported as a return (RTO) fee.

Cash on delivery on the dashboard

The Dashboard shows a Cash in flight panel with the title and a hero number (Outstanding). It tells you how much money from COD parcels is either on the road or waiting for you.

Three rows:

  1. With courier now — Parcels currently Dispatched and dispatched in the last 5 days (recent ones you are tracking). Value is the order total minus any advance payment.
  2. Awaiting Pathao payout — Orders delivered in the last 30 days that the courier has not yet marked as "Paid". This row only appears for couriers that have reported at least one "Paid" status (Pathao does; the row names every courier that qualifies). Value is the Cash Collected, or the amount due when no cash was recorded.
  3. Coming back as returns — Return Pending orders. Value is the order total.

The Outstanding hero number sums all three.

Footer: Shows "Collected, last 30 days" — the total cash collected over the past 30 days.

Example dashboard view:

Outstanding: Tk 47,850
├─ With courier now: Tk 12,000 (8 parcels, last 5 days)
├─ Awaiting Pathao payout: Tk 35,850 (12 delivered)
└─ Coming back as returns: Tk 0 (0 pending)
Collected, last 30 days: Tk 89,240

When a parcel returns

If a parcel comes back to you before delivery (Return Pending), the courier fee recorded for the order is reported as a return fee in reports.

Example (Pathao return):

  • Original parcel: Tk 3,000 due
  • Courier fee on return: Tk 120 (loss to you)
  • Customer still owes: Tk 3,000 (no change unless they are entitled to a refund)

When you process the return for a Pathao parcel, Omnikyo marks the order Returned and updates the fee from Pathao's order details.

Pathao "Paid" and payouts

Pathao marks an order as "Paid" when they have paid you that parcel's cash. The dashboard's Awaiting Pathao payout row shows Delivered orders that are NOT marked "Paid" yet.

Important: There is no payout reconciliation screen or payout approval process. Pathao tells Omnikyo "this parcel is paid", and the dashboard stops counting that order's cash. You must check your Pathao merchant panel separately to confirm the actual payment in your Pathao wallet.

Questions people ask

Why does the order show Tk 0 Due?

The customer has already paid the full amount (Advance Payment = Total), so nothing is due from them or the courier. The courier still delivers the parcel, but collects no money.

The courier says they collected more than Due

This can happen if the customer asked for additional items on delivery, paid a different amount, or there was a mistake. Check the order's Cash Collected field and the courier's tracking page. You can edit the collected amount in Omnikyo (on the order window), but this is rare.

When will the courier pay me?

That depends on the courier's settlement terms, not Omnikyo. Pathao shows a "Paid" status when they have sent you the cash; Steadfast is often faster but may have different timing. Check your courier's merchant panel for payout schedules.

How is the courier fee calculated?

It depends on the courier:

  • Pathao: varies by delivery type, distance zone and other factors set by Pathao.
  • Steadfast: varies by delivery type and location.

You do not set the fee — the courier decides it. It is reported to Omnikyo when the parcel is delivered.

I see cash on the dashboard but not in my bank

The dashboard shows the cash with couriers (still in transit or awaiting payout). The actual money arrives in your bank account on the courier's schedule. Check your Pathao/Steadfast merchant panel to see when payouts are scheduled.
