Add a passkey to your account

Add a passkey to use your fingerprint, face recognition, or device PIN to sign in on a device you trust. Passkeys are a new way to sign in — you can add and remove them, but you cannot use them to sign in yet.

Where to find it: Sidebar › Settings → Profile and security → Sign-in methods → Passkeys section.

Browser and device support

Your browser must support passkeys, and the device must be running a recent version of Chrome, Safari, or Edge. If your browser does not support passkeys, the button shows "This browser can't use passkeys. Try a recent Chrome, Safari or Edge."

If Omnikyo has passkeys switched off, the button is disabled and shows "Passkeys are switched off for Omnikyo right now."

Add a passkey to this device

  1. Open Settings → Profile and security → Sign-in methods → Passkeys.
  2. Press Add this device.
  3. Your device asks you to confirm with your fingerprint, face, or PIN.
  4. On success, the toast shows "Device added" and "You can now sign in on it with your fingerprint, face or PIN" (this feature is coming soon).

A passkey is now stored on this device. You can use it on this device in the future.

List your saved passkeys

Under the Passkeys section, every passkey you added appears with a name (for example "Saved passkey" if you did not name it) and when it was last used, or "Not used yet" if you added it but have not used it.

Remove a passkey

  1. Open Settings → Profile and security → Sign-in methods.
  2. Find the passkey in the list.
  3. Press the trash icon beside it.

The passkey is removed at once. You will no longer be able to use this device to sign in with a passkey.

Troubleshooting

If you see "This device wasn't added" after pressing Add this device, either the device does not support passkeys, you declined the fingerprint, face or PIN prompt, or something went wrong. Try a different device or a different browser. If it keeps happening, contact support.

Questions people ask

Can I use a passkey to sign in right now?

Not yet. You can add and manage passkeys, but signing in with them is coming soon. For now, you still need your email and password (or Google sign-in) to sign in.

How many passkeys can I add?

You can add passkeys to as many devices as you want. Each device stores its own passkey.

What happens if I lose the device with a passkey?

The passkey is locked to that device and cannot be used on another device. Remove it from your account on this page. You can still sign in with your password or Google, and you can add a passkey to a new device.

Is a passkey the same as two-step verification?

No. Two-step verification requires a code from an authenticator app. A passkey uses your device's fingerprint, face, or PIN. They are different ways to sign in securely. You can have both.
