Search rules

Minimum characters

  • 3 letters or more: searches by name, phone or SKU using fuzzy matching (partial text matches).
  • 1 or 2 characters: only exact order number matches work. For example, 12 finds order #0012, #0012, #12 and #12 if they exist; it does not search customer names.
  • Empty box: shows Recent searches, Actions, and Quick jump pages.

Order numbers

Order numbers match in several formats. A single search finds:

FormatMatchesExample
12#0012 (padded), #12, 0012, 1212 finds order #0012
#12#0012, #12, 0012, 12#12 finds order #0012
0012#0012, #12, 0012, 120012 finds order #0012
#0012#0012, #12, 0012, 12#0012 finds order #0012

Phone numbers

Phone numbers are matched in their normalised form. Type the number any way (with or without +880, with spaces, hyphens or dashes) and it finds the saved number. For example, 01712345678 and +88 17123 45678 both find the same customer.

Order searches

Typing in the Orders scope or with the # prefix searches for:

  1. Order numbers (display_id) matching the text.
  2. Shopify order names matching the text (if imported).
  3. Orders of customers whose name or phone matches the text (only if the search is 3+ characters).

Results are limited to 8 orders, sorted by newest first.

Customer searches

Searches by name or phone. Requires 3+ characters. Results are limited to 6, sorted by newest first.

Product searches

Searches by product name or SKU. Requires 3+ characters. Results show parent products only (variants are found through their parent). Limited to 6 results, sorted by most recently updated first.

Page and settings searches

Pages and settings are searched by their label and keywords. Exact matches rank first. Pages are gated by:

  • Permission: you only see pages your role can access.
  • Platform feature: some pages (Blog posts, Discounts, Contact inbox) only appear when the owner turns them on.
  • Development only: Debug and Phone Debug pages never appear in production.
