Using Omnikyo on your phone

Omnikyo works on your phone — either in any browser, as the Android app, or as an icon on your home screen. The layout adapts to a small screen.

In a browser

Open omnikyo.com in any browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, or any other app. It works exactly like the computer version but the buttons and text are smaller to fit the screen.

  • Sidebar becomes a drawer: tap the menu button (three lines, top left) to open the sidebar menu, and tap again to close it.
  • Smaller buttons: tap carefully; buttons are touch-sized.
  • No pinch-zoom: you cannot zoom in with pinch gestures (this is on purpose — merchants were losing buttons off-screen and could not get back). Text stays readable on its own.
  • Kyo orb: on a phone, Ask Kyo (the OmniAI assistant) is an orange orb in the bottom right. Drag it to either screen edge to move it out of your way.

The Android app

Download the Omnikyo app from the Play Store or from omnikyo.com/download. The app is the same dashboard as the browser — same login, same pages. When you open it, it loads the live dashboard from omnikyo.com.

  • Pull to refresh: drag down from the top of a page to reload it.
  • No offline mode: the app needs an internet connection. If you lose connection, a full-screen "You're offline" message appears; tap Try again when you reconnect.
  • Order alerts: every new order sends a notification to your phone. Tap it to open the order in the app.

The Android app requires Android 8 or newer. After you install it, give it permission to send you notifications.

Good to know: An iOS app for iPhone and iPad is coming soon. For now, use Safari and add Omnikyo to your home screen instead.

Add Omnikyo to your home screen

You can add Omnikyo as an icon on your phone's home screen, so it opens like an app even though it is actually the website.

Android (Chrome browser):

  1. Open omnikyo.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu, top right.
  3. Select "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Follow the prompts.

The icon appears on your home screen. Tapping it opens Omnikyo full-screen without the browser bar.

iPhone or iPad (Safari browser):

  1. Open omnikyo.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (arrow pointing out of a box), bottom right.
  3. Select "Add to Home Screen".
  4. Give it a name and tap Add.

The icon appears on your home screen. Tapping it opens Omnikyo full-screen.

The home-screen version is the same as the browser — it does not work offline and sends no notifications.

Differences on a small screen

On a phone:

  • Sidebar opens as a drawer from the menu button, instead of staying on the left.
  • Buttons stack vertically instead of side by side (for example, action buttons are below the search field, not beside it).
  • Bottom sheets slide up instead of opening as dialogs (for example, creating an order or editing a product).
  • Text and fields are taller to make them easier to tap.
  • Keyboard shrinks the page (Android Chrome) instead of sliding over it, so important buttons stay visible.
  • The Kyo orb replaces the Ask Kyo button in the header. Drag it to move it.

Everything you can do on a computer you can do on a phone — the layout just changes to fit the screen.

Questions people ask

Does the app work offline?

No. The app and the home-screen icon both need an internet connection. If you go offline, you see "You're offline" and cannot do anything until you reconnect.

Can I use Omnikyo on an iPhone?

You cannot install the app on iPhone yet, but you can open omnikyo.com in Safari and add it to your home screen (see above). It works the same way.

Why can't I zoom in?

Pinch-zoom is turned off on purpose. Many merchants were zooming in, losing buttons off-screen, and then not knowing how to get back. Instead, the text and buttons are sized so you can read and tap them without zooming.

Why is my button hidden on the phone?

On a small screen, buttons stack up. Swipe or scroll down to find more buttons. Actions that are side-by-side on a computer might be under each other on a phone.

Do notifications work on iPhone?

The Android app gets notifications. On iPhone, open Omnikyo in Safari instead; there are no notifications, but you can add it to your home screen.
