Route orders from each source to a location
When you have multiple locations, you can send orders from Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Call, Offline, or Website to a specific location. Without a routing rule, orders use your channel routing priority and then the default location.
Where to find it: Sidebar › Settings › Locations › the Channel routing card (appears when you have 2 or more locations)
Before you start
Channel routing is only available if your business has 2 or more locations. Each routing rule tells Omnikyo which location to take stock from when an order comes from a specific source.
The six order sources are:
- Messenger — Facebook Messenger orders
- Instagram — Instagram Direct Message orders
- Whatsapp — WhatsApp orders
- Call — Voice call orders entered manually
- Offline — Offline/in-person orders entered manually
- Website — Orders from your online storefront
Shopify orders are not routed; they always use the default location.
Set a routing rule
- Open Settings and select Locations.
- Scroll to Channel routing.
- For each order source, select the dropdown and choose a location, or leave it as Business default.
- The rule is saved immediately; no save button is needed.
If you select a location, orders from that source will try to use that location's stock first. If the location is inactive or does not serve that sales channel, Omnikyo falls back to the default location.
What happens when no rule is set
When a source has Business default selected:
- Omnikyo checks which locations serve that order's sales channel (Online for Website orders, Manual for Messenger/Instagram/WhatsApp/Call/Offline).
- Among eligible locations, it picks the one with the highest fulfilment priority, then the default location, then the oldest.
- If no location serves that channel, the default location is used as a final fallback, so orders are never blocked.
Change or clear a routing rule
- Open Settings › Locations › Channel routing.
- Select the dropdown for the source and choose a different location, or select Business default to clear the rule.
- The change is saved immediately.
Shopify orders
Shopify orders are not routed through the channel routing card. They always take stock from the default location, regardless of any routing rule set here.
Questions people ask
Do routing rules affect the Website source?
Yes. If you set a routing rule for Website, orders from your online storefront will try to use that location. If the location is inactive, the order falls back to the default location.
What if the routed location is inactive?
Inactive locations cannot be selected in the routing dropdown. If a location becomes inactive after you set a routing rule, Omnikyo ignores the rule and uses the default location instead.
What if the routed location does not serve that channel?
If you route Instagram orders to a location that does not have the Manual channel enabled, Omnikyo treats the route as invalid and falls back to the default location.
Can I route a source to the default location?
Yes. Select Business default to remove a specific routing rule and let Omnikyo pick a location automatically.
