How the dashboard compares with the previous period
The Dashboard compares your figures with the same number of days before. If you look at last 7 days, it compares with the 7 days just before that. Only Sales, Orders and Avg order show arrows; the others compare silently or not at all.
Where to find it: Dashboard › tap any figure on the three headline cards (Sales, Ad spend, Net profit) to see the previous period's number in a tooltip
The comparison window
The comparison is always the same number of calendar days immediately before your chosen range, no gap.
- Last 7 days compares with the 7 days just before those 7 days
- Last month compares with the whole previous month
- Yesterday compares with the day before
- A custom range (for example, 15 Oct to 20 Oct, which is 6 days) compares with the 6 days just before (9 Oct to 14 Oct)
The 23:00 rule: when comparison is hidden
No comparison arrows appear when today is in your date range and the local time is before 23:00 (11 PM). This rule covers the default Today preset and also This week, Last 7 days, This month, Last 30 days and other date ranges that include today. From 23:00 to midnight the comparison appears because the day is complete.
A date range that ends yesterday (or any day in the past) compares normally.
Why? The day is not finished yet. Comparing a partial day with the full previous day is unfair and misleading.
Which figures show arrows
Only three figures draw a change arrow:
- Sales — how much total money came in
- Orders — how many orders were placed
- Avg order — the average order value
Ad spend, Net profit, Gross profit, Delivered, Delivery fees and all the ad ratios (ROAS, Per order, Per delivered, Per unit) do not show arrows, even when the previous figure is different.
The change label and colour
The arrow shows the direction and the size of the change:
Up arrow ↗ (green) — good news. Sales, Orders and Avg order went up.
Down arrow ↘ (red) — bad news. Sales, Orders or Avg order went down.
Flat arrow → (grey) — no significant change. The change is under 0.5% and rounds to 0%, so it is treated as no change.
"New" — this is your first time reaching this figure. There was nothing in the previous period to compare with (0 orders before, at least 1 now).
"0%" — no change at all (both periods are the same).
The percentage shown (e.g. "+12%", "-8.3%") uses one decimal place only if the change is under 10%. From 10% it rounds to whole numbers ("+12%", "+156%").
Hover or tap the figure to see "Previous period: ৳…" in a tooltip, showing the exact number from the previous period.
Questions people ask
Why are there no arrows today?
If the current time is before 23:00 (11 PM) and today is in your date range, arrows are hidden. The day is not complete yet. From 23:00 to midnight comparison appears. If you want to see comparison, choose a date range that ends yesterday.
Why does Ad spend not show an arrow?
Ad spend does not show a change arrow by design. Although the previous ad spend is calculated and used in the Net profit formula, the arrow is only shown for Sales, Orders and Avg order. This keeps the headline cards from being too busy with numbers.
Why does it say "New" instead of a percentage?
"New" means there was no previous period data to compare with. For example, the previous period had zero orders and this period has some orders. You can't divide by zero, so the system calls it "New" instead of a percentage.
Does comparison affect Needs attention or Courier health?
No. Needs attention is live data (right now) and ignores date ranges. Courier health always compares the last 30 days with the 30 days before that (a fixed window), not your chosen range.
What if both periods are zero?
When the current period and the previous period are both zero (no sales, no orders), no arrow or label appears. There is no change to report.
